Formed by Charles Davis in 2009, Blues House Records is a
division of Blues House Productions, LLC.
As the guitarist for the legendary Calvin Owens Blues Orchestra, Charles
“CD” Davis spent almost a decade performing and touring with the band, as
well as appearing on several of Owens’ albums including The House is
Burnin’, I Ain’t Gonna Be Yo’ Dog No Mo’, Houston is the Place to Be, The
Calvin Owens Show. He also appeared on the Johnny Bush/Willie Nelson
albums that featured the Calvin Owens Blues Orchestra.
After Calvin’s death in February 2008, Charles began producing and
recording his own projects. The former “solo” guitarist was surprised to find
that he had developed an affinity for horn sections and so began to add horn
parts that you will hear on this album.
24 Hour Blues features the guitarist along with vocalists Jabo – Texas
Prince of Zydeco, Roberta Donnay, Rue Davis, and Trudy Lynn. Recorded at
Sugarhill Recording Studios in Houston and produced by Charles, the
album features CD’s original tunes and his new arrangements of a few
blues standards.
